I'm going a little off topic for this tribe, but y'all are the only cooking tribe I belong to now, so please forgive...but this could be fun I think. I normally do Thanksgiving for around 20, this year I'm only hosting about 8 so I'm feeling a litle feisty and want to change up my menu a bit. I'm going to post below the recipe that got me crowned as "Queen of Thanksgiving" by my 7-year old neice. I would love to see your favorite recipe & possibly jack it for my own menu this year... I'm shopping tomorrow, so if you've got one on hand now I"d love you to share it. Here comes mine:
CRANBERRY SALAD

1.6 OZ package cherry jello
2 cups boiling water
2 large apples peeled & grated
1 ½ cups chopped pecans
2 cups cooked or 16 oz canned cranberries
dissolve cherry jello in boiling water. cool slightly. add apples, chopped pecans and cranberries. turn into 13 x 9 glass baking dish. refrigerate til firm.
topping
8 oz package cream cheese (softened)
1 cup powdered sugar
4 oz can crushed pineapple, drained
1 envelope whipped topping mix
½ cup cold milk
1 tsp. vanilla
blend softened cream cheese with ½ cup powdered sugar until smooth. mix in crushed pineapple. whip topping mix with cold milk until stiff. stir in remaining powdered sugar and vanilla. gradually add cream cheese mixture.
spoon cream cheese topping over top, spread evenly. sprinkle with pecans or pecan halves, cover and chill
