it sounds like it would work but i dont think i would add the topping onions until the last 15 minutes or so. i would think they would get soggy not crispy like they get in the oven

I would use either fresh or caned green beans, the milk is used to mix with the mushroom soup.Frozen beans don't sound to good to me. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't put milk in mine. That sounds like it would be runny. Especially with condensation in the crock.
I do add cubes of cheddar cheese and people love it (soup, beans, cheese, salt & pepper).
Seems like a long time to cook a casserole... I suppose if it's saving you oven space it would be convenient.

It works, I have already done this for our Christmas Party at work a number of times.
Add the other half of the onions just before serving. My recipe calls for diced piementos and they give it a nice flavor and a festive look. I have never put soy in it though.
I use frozen french style beans, just run them under warm water to separate and drain well.
four hours on low is fine. They don't come out soupy at all.
Everyone love them. -

YEP IT WORKED!!!!! AND IT ROCKED!!!!
our thanksgiving was a crock pot fest...
large red pot -- mash potatoes
large green pot -- green bean casserole
large white pot -- pasta carbonara
large vine covered pot -- yams and marshmellow
small red pot -- stuffing
med white pot -- brown rice pilaf
it may sound odd but it really worked perfect. I borrowed 4 pots but will look during christmas for sales because for a large group meals this worked perfect.
